Taylor Creek Park – bike, walk, run…

Spring flowers, Taylor Creek Park, Toronto

Taylor Creek Park formed around the bends of the Don River, in the area the three rivers meet and form the Lower Don River. Known by several names over the years, the two most commonly used names – Taylor and Massey Creek are taken from two families with important historical ties to the area. A third name, Silver Creek, was used during the early 1800’s. Taylor Creek park and ravine is one of the largest natural areas in the city. The trail boasts 182 acres of lush forest, a babbling riverway and incredible natural beauty… The nearly six-kilometre loop of hiking and biking trails that wind through the park stick closely to a trickling river providing lots of beautiful scenery and chances for duck sightings.

The park and the trails are one of our favourite spots for picnics and bike rides or walks… It’s all within walking distance for us, and few days ago when the rain stopped for a while we went for a walk to Taylor Creek Park… The scenery was wonderful, the birds were chirping, the trees had just started to bud their leaves and the sound of the river rushing by added to the beauty of it all. Hard to believe that this is all in the city! Spring is here! Finally, the cold months have passed and it is warm outside… There are many ways to take advantage of this chance… That is exactly what we decided to do. The city of Toronto has many parks and trails spread out across the city.

The Don Valley has a “network” of trails, picnic spots and parks. Exploring them can be quite entertaining. It also has many mountain bike trails as well as regular bike paths, for anyone who wants to bring their bike. There are so many trails and they are so long, it would be hard to explore them all in one day… On our walk, we spotted many things; birds, flowers and of course people. When the weather is nice, many people come out to ride their bikes, walk and just enjoy the nature that the city has to offer.
