“This is a key niche market event for us because it allows us to have direct interaction with potential divers in a top geographic region driving travel to St. Kitts,” said Mrs. Rosecita Jeffers, CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.  “Dive travel is known to be relatively recession proof and these individuals tend to have a high on-island spend, which yields a direct benefit to our local economy.”Over the course of the three day event, thousands of show attendees including potential dive travelers, dive industry professionals and members of the media stopped by the St. Kitts booth to learn more about the destination and what it has to offer scuba divers.  Representatives from the St. Kitts Tourism Authority were joined by on island dive operators, talking about the dive product, answering questions with a smile and providing a firsthand experience of the islands’ renowned hospitality.  Many interested individuals took home flyers and other materials, so learning about the diving in St. Kitts & Nevis can continue long after the show ended.ABOUT THE SHOW:  Approximately 400 exhibitors including dive destinations, live aboard boats, airlines, equipment manufacturers and dive industry professionals participated in the Beneath the Sea 35th annual Oceans Exposition and Dive Travel Show this year.  BENEATH THE SEA™ is a not-for-profit public service, educational, membership organization.  For more information, call 914-664-4310 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              914-664-4310      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, e-mail info@beneaththesea.org or visit the website at http://www.beneaththesea.org.   In recent months, St. Kitts was named a top destination for 2011 by both AOL Travel and British Airways.  Located in the northern Leeward Islands of the Caribbean, St. Kitts offers a diverse tourism product developed from the destination’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and rich history.  The island’s stunning variety of tourism attractions include hiking through the tropical rainforest, riding the scenic railway that connects the island’s former sugar plantations, visiting the Caribelle Batik factory, touring Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park, the only man-made UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Eastern Caribbean, and the more traditional vacation pastimes such as watersports, golf, shopping, tennis, gourmet dining, gaming at one of St. Kitts’ two casinos or simply relaxing on one of the island’s sandy beaches.  Accommodations range from intimate plantation inns to larger hotels or resorts.  For more information about St. Kitts, please contact the St. Kitts Tourism Authority toll free from the US at 1-800-582-6208 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-800-582-6208      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or from Canada 1-888-395-4887 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-888-395-4887      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, e-mail info@stkittstourism.kn, visit www.stkittstourism.kn, or connect on Facebook, Twitter and/or YouTubeFor more information about Nevis, please contact the Nevis Tourism Authority in the US at 1-407-287-5204 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-407-287-5204
