Old Town Hall Waterford

On Saturday, May 12, check out the Definitely Not the Mall Artisan Show Sale at Waterford Old Town Hall. Support some of Norfolk’s finest artisans, makers of hand-crafted pottery, paintings, sculptures, stained glass, soaps, candles, glass bead jewellery, hand bags, home decor and more. Admission by donation. Open 11am-5pm.

Backus Woods

Celebrate Mother’s Day outdoors on Sunday, May 13, with a guided hike at Backus Heritage Conservation AreaWildflower Walk begins at 2:00 p.m., inside the Conservation Education Centre, with some tips to identify spring wildflowers. Then it’s outside for a guided hike to view the variety of wildflowers found in Backus Woods.  Admission is $2 per person. Lighthouse Festival Theatre

Rhinestone Cowgirl, a tribute to Dolly Parton, opens May 22 and runs to June 16 a tribute to at Lighthouse Festival Theatre. Crowd pleaser Leisa Way performs over 30 of Dolly Parton’s greatest hits live.  Accompanied by 16 stringed instruments played by 5 musicians, Way sings and tells stories spanning Parton’s entire career, highlighting her remarkable career as one of the most successful entertainers in history.  Contact Lighthouse Festival Theatre box office to book your tickets.

Norfolk Asparagus

Did you know Norfolk County is Ontario’s leading grower of asparagus? Norfolk asparagus is now in season, so make sure you pick some up at one of our many farmers’ markets, such as Bro Sam Mel Farms, Spearit Farms, Veggie Shack, The Market Garden, Dennis Horseradish, Cider Keg, Matz Fruit Barn as well as farmers markets in Simcoe (Thursdays) and Port Dover (Saturdays). Pure Imagination Art Show at Waterford Old Town Hall, opening May 20. This show runs in conjunction with the play of the same name showing at the Old Town Hall in Waterford and promises to be amazing.

Fireworks on the Hill at Sand Hills Park, May 20 at dusk. Don’t miss the view of beautiful Lake Erie from the top of the bluffs.
