Conestogo River Horseback riding in Waterloo Region

Around mid-July we purchased the ticket for the play “Out of Order” presented by Drayton Entertainment. The play takes place at St. Jacobs  Play House, and since the play was on Friday night, we booked our overnight stay at “Himewood Suites” by Hilton. We also planned some other activities for the shoe day and after. It turned out to be one of the Best Weekends we spent with kids in Waterloo Region.

The next morning we spent at the Market, sampling fresh fruits and berries.  Later, we enjoyed the High Tea organised by the Hotel (reserved in advance). The rest of the day we planned to spend at the Horse ranch…

YAY!

We came a bit early, OK maybe 1 hour early. It was a lof of fun to feed goats and sheep in an enclosed area, look at the horse roaming free within small field near the entrance and walk around to property… The instructor met us in the office. She looked very young, but as we found out later had a lot of experience! After we signed the waivers and got riding helmets we went to meet our horses. I got to ride one named King, so I made a joke “I am the Queen riding the King”…

We started our journey by going through a field of tall grass, across the river (I got a bit wet but it was worth it!), through some more fields, forested areas, bushes and again river… The ride was very pleasant and fun – I did not have to worry about the horse or giving him directions – the horses are very friendly and trained to keep pace. Our ride was about one hour, we enjoyed it so much, that it seemed quite short!  And it gave me the feel l that I LOVE horses and can’t wait to ride again…
