FAIRMONT CHATEAU LAKE LOUISE LAUNCHES 2019 WELLNESS RETREATS AS NEW ERA OF TRANSFORMATIVE TRAVEL TRANSPIRES
– Five new retreats unveiled for the transformative traveler make for the ultimate Christmas gift –

Lake Louise, December 11, 2018 – Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has unveiled five Lake Louise Wellness retreats as part of its spring 2019 line-up. The upcoming year will mark the resort’s eighth anniversary of offering retreats led by world-renowned facilitators in a world-class natural setting. The retreat launch is announced as a new era of transformative wellness transpires.
Led by four well-respected and renowned facilitators, the retreats are designed to appeal to a broad range of individuals seeking a “transformative travel” experience. The retreats range from mindfulness, meditation and yoga, to self-discovery retreats. Individuals of all abilities and walks of life are invited to the heart of Banff National Park to participate. Register here.

Lake Louise is an attractive destination for both local and international travelers seeking meaning, purpose and personal fulfilment from their vacation. “Our wellness guests aren’t just coming to Lake Louise because we’re a bucket list destination. They are coming for the transformative experience of which the incredible landscape plays an integral part,” says Davina Bernard, Director of Wellness, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. “Your spirit of self-discovery is able to manifest here in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. When you arrive here, there’s this ‘wow.’”

The idea of “transformative travel” is continuing to take hold of the travel industry. Skift defines transformative travel as any travel experience that empowers people to make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives, whether big or small.

According to The Rise of Transformative Travel, a Skift Trends Report published in March 2018, “travelers today are increasingly drawn to travel as a form of self-actualization and personal transformation and growth.” A survey of 500 people found that 32 per cent of consumers have had an experience while traveling that has transformed them in a positive way, while another 24 per cent of consumers have not had such an experience but would like to.

“Our all-inclusive retreats are the perfect way to kick off 2019. I can’t think of a better way to set yourself or your loved ones up for a fantastic year than with an inspiring vacation in such an incredible setting,” says Bernard.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is the only location in Banff National Park with a consistent offering of wellness retreats. The resort first introduced mindfulness, meditation and yoga retreats in 2011. Led by a local Albertan facilitator, Tracey Delfs, the resort saw success in these retreats and has been offering an array of workshops every year since.

As a year-round luxury wellness destination, guests of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise have the option to participate in a retreat or to continue their wellness journey in a self-guided style. Lake Louise is an ideal location for ‘forest bathing’ and for mindful activities; from canoeing and hiking in the summer, to snowshoeing and ice skating in the winter. Guests have the option to embrace whole body wellness with a spa treatment and to join one of the many complimentary fitness and wellness classes that take place in the resort’s newly renovated wellness rooms.
