Brantford – The legendary musician and recent Order of Canada recipient Ronnie Hawkins has seen more, done more and performed more than just about anyone else in Canada for six decades. Originally from Arkansas, he started off touring in Ontario in the 50’s with his band calling themselves Rompin’ Ronnie Hawkins and The Hawks. In 1959 he settled in Hamilton and then Toronto and replaced The Hawks with Ontario musicians who later would be known as The Band. He is a mentor to many well-known Canadian musicians and many of them went on to have amazing careers.

Ronnie Hawkins is a multiple JUNO winner and he was inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame in 2002. In 2004 he was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame and in 2008 SOCAN presented him with their Special Achievement Award. In July 2013 Ronnie Hawkins was awarded with The Order Of Canada. He is the only American given this prestigious high award.
