On the agenda

Reunion Island and the city of Albi recently became Unesco world heritage sites
The World Heritage Committee held their 34th session in Brasilia from July 25th to August 3rd. The two sites proposed by France were accepted by the committee. The pitons, cirques and remparts of Reunion Island, as well as the episcopal city of Albi are now part of the prestigious list. France now totals 35 World Heritage sites.

2010 grape picking: take part and visit the vineyards
Pick grapes or watch others as they work…

La France des gourmets

Authentic taste of Guadeloupe
Besides sunny beaches, lush vegetation, good rums and beguine, the islands of Guadeloupe will win you over with their multitude of flavours! A Caribbean feast showcases abundant and tasty vegetables and fruits, inimitable sugarcane, honey, not to forget some authentic cultures recently going through a boom…

Wine domains and oenological classes on the French Riviera
These wines, among the best vintage wines of Provence, are worth discovering, notably the wine of Bellet, a small vineyard with a great reputation, producing aromatic whites and rich red wines.

Corsican local products and specialties
Rich in heritage, Corsica is equally rich in living traditions, in which gastronomy plays a central role.

Our favorites

Martinique, island of flowers and…museums!
Martinique, it is more than 6000 years of history, to be discovered through all its heritage. You will be staggered by all the Martinique treasures.

Explore Tahiti’s Waters
The warm, crystalline waters of Tahiti and its surrounding islands have for years beckoned to those who love the life aquatic. French Polynesia’s many oceanic drop-offs and lagoons offer a spectacular array of coral gardens, rare and vividly colored sea creatures, and water temperatures that hover between 79Ëš and 84ËšF all year. There are more ways to experience these warm tropical waters than you may think…

Information about eco-tourism in Outre-mer: gîtes holiday cottages and guestrooms
The France of the three oceans offers superb “nature” destinations, thanks to its preserved landscapes, but also because of its beautiful addresses located very close to their environment.

June 17, 2010 (Toronto, ON) - This summer Quebecers will have one more way to celebrate in the sun when Air Canada reinstates its direct flight from Montreal, Quebec to Barbados on June 25, 2010. The non-stop summer service which returns after a brief hiatus will provide Quebec-based Canadians an easier and faster way to enjoy the rich Barbados culture, cuisine and nightlife.

The approximately five hour flight will fly from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport to the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados , on a A-319 aircraft with 120 seats.  For further information or to book a flight visit www.aircanada.com<http://www.aircanada.com>; For suggestions on what to see and do in Barbados visit www.visitbarbados.org<http://www.visitbarbados.org>

King’s Way Interpretation Centre

Visitors who head down the King’s Way will be able to learn more about this historical roadway by stopping by the new interpretation centre. The various services offered by the centre will gradually be made available to the public over the summer.

Located on a gorgeous site between the St. Lawrence River and the King’s Way (Route 138), the interpretation centre boasts a stunning view and has a permanent exhibit on the history of Canada’s first highway open to vehicular traffic.

The King’s Way is also part of the Route verte. Cyclists can take advantage of the services offered especially for them at the interpretation centre: water fountain, shower tower with refreshing mist and a water jet to soothe the feet, shady rest area, loan of tools for minor repairs, etc.

The interpretation centre will be integrated into the Deschambault-Grondines tourism bureau, which is open during the summer.

Something new to discover!

Valcartier Vacation Village shows its environmental leadership

Hot water and environmentally-friendly efforts

Village Vacances Valcartier has invested over one million dollars this year for a water heating system and recycling bins. This investment is part of an important initiative to become more environmentally-friendly and promote sustainable development.

The new reversible water heating system recovers the heat so that swimmers can enjoy heated water in all the pools on the site. This project will enable Village Vacances Valcartier to cut its kilowatt-hours of electricity consumption by half during the summer season. The purpose of these water heaters is to maintain the water temperature of all the attractions at approximately 80 degrees Fahrenheit for the visitors’ comfort.

The Village Vacances Valcartier has also added 45 recycling bins for glass, plastic and aluminum. These containers, which are placed throughout the water park and campground, will make it easier to recycle a wider variety of material.

Montreal, Quebec (Thursday, November 26, 2009) — The 11th annual MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival’s SAQ Wine and Dine Experience presented by Air France, Canada’s largest culinary showcase, is set to take place from Thursday, February 18 to Sunday, February 28, 2010.

As part of its culinary program each year, the festival celebrates the gastronomy of a different country, a city and a region of Quebec by inviting top chefs, vintners and producers to take part in the many wine and dine events hosted throughout the city. This year the festival honours Portugal as the featured country, New Orleans as the featured city, and the Eastern Townships as the featured Quebec region.

The SAQ Wine and Dine Experience presented by Air France is the only event in the world where a city’s top chefs team with international chefs to design innovative menus and dining experiences. Since 2000, the festival has welcomed over 300 renowned chefs, wine producers and speakers from five continents to taken part in the Festival’s Finest Tables. With up to 50 of Montreal’s most popular restaurants taking part this year, the Festival’s Finest Tables feature theme tasting experiences, gourmet menus and amazing wine and food pairings.

In addition to wine and dine events, the MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival stages a series of events including the Sun Life Financial Performing Arts, BMO Bank of Montreal Celebration of Light and Nuit Blanche in Montreal Presented by Hydro-Québec. Attracting over 750,000 particpants over 11 days, the festival has grown into one of Canada’s largest winter city celebrations.

Chef Airoldi heads to Montreal with a dynamic delegation of 20 chefs and 18 wine producers under the banner of Portugal’s Finest Wines.

At Jean Talon Market on February 20 and 21, food and wine producers from the area will showcase the region’s local products with demonstrations, tastings and conferences.
