Brantford, ON? Comedian André-Philippe Gagnon will be performing in
Brantford, ON at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday
June 2, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.
André-Philippe Gagnon was just a young hopeful when he did his very first
impressions… five years young! From Mick Jagger to Bob Dylan, The Bee
Gees to Frank Sinatra-almost better than the original! One of the biggest
breaks came in 1985 when he appeared at the world-renowned comedy festival
Just For Laughs in Montreal.
After that show, he was invited to appear on the Tonight Show with Johnny
Carson, where he performed a” signature” song, his version of the
famine-relief anthem “We Are The World”, doing every singer on the
song-eighteen famous voices in one composition.
The world discovered him, and he discovered the world performing in Los
Angeles, Paris, Switzerland and beyond.
André-Philippe Gagnon established his career in both English and French,
becoming recognized as a star in Canada and around the world. He toured
Europe receiving standing ovations wherever he went, and he continues to
share his talents with audiences in his adopted home Las Vegas.?
Tickets to see André-Philippe Gagnon are available by visiting the
Sanderson Centre box office located at 88 Dalhousie Street, Brantford.
Tickets can be ordered with a major credit card by calling (519) 758-8090

Ottawa’s Rideau Canal Skateway ( <http://www.canadascapital.gc.ca/skateway>
www.canadascapital.gc.ca/skateway) officially opened today and launched
the 40th season of organized ice skating on the world’s largest naturally
frozen skating rink.
A 4.3 km section of the 7.8 km Rideau Canal Skateway opened at 8:00 am this
morning — from the National Arts Centre to Bank Street. The National
Capital Commission ensures that the ice is at least a foot thick before
it’s deemed safe to open to the public.
Skating on the Canal is one of the favourite things to do in Ottawa for
visitors and residents alike - in fact, many residents skate to work or to
school once the Canal is open. All along the Canal are services to make the
skating experience more enjoyable - picnic tables, coffee, hot chocolate and
of course BeaverTail kiosks. Bring your own skates or rent some at three
locations along the Skateway.
The Canal will host young hockey players on January 30, 2010 as part of the
programming for Hockey Day in Canada when all six Canadian NHL teams will
play one another. The Canal is also the focal point for Ottawa’s annual
Winterlude festival ( <http://www.winterlude.gc.ca> www.winterlude.gc.ca)
taking place February 5-21, 2010.

Royal Hamilton
Hamilton > -> Today> ‘> s visit to Hamilton by the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall signals the city> ‘> s appeal to Royal followers.
> “> As a monarchist and Hamiltonian, I am so proud of the city> ‘> s many royal connections and rich royal heritage,> “> says Robert Finch, Chief Operating Officer and Dominion Chairman of the Monarchist League of Canada. > “> From the Queen Victoria statue at Gore Park to the many local organizations with a royal designation or patronage, Hamilton boasts an exciting royal presence worth exploring.> “>
Here are five majestic must-sees in random order sure to please a royal palate.
1. Historical interpreters at Dundurn National Historic Site have discovered that the lineage of Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, traces back to the home> ‘> s resident. Sir Allan Napier MacNab was Parker-Bowles> ‘> Great Great Great Grandfather. Further, during his Hamilton visit in 1860, the then Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) who was also the Great Great Grandfather of the current Prince of Wales dined at Dundurn Castle with MacNab. In other words, Dundurn was a place where their ancestors crossed paths. Today, visitors can discover mid-19th-century Hamilton on a guided tour of Dundurn> ‘> s 40+ rooms.
2. Royal Botanical Gardens received its Royal designation in 1930 from King George V. All Royal Botanic institutions are expected to promote science (biology, botany, horticulture), provide public education, and champion conservation. In essence, every Royal Botanic has the same mission: to be a living museum which serves local, regional and global communities while developing and promoting public understanding of the relationship between the plant world, humanity and the rest of nature. Today, RBG features five glorious gardens including the world> ‘> s largest lilac collection, a 30-kilometer trail system and four nature sanctuaries.
3. The Prince of Wales is a patron of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. The site is a living museum featuring the aircraft used by Canadians or Canada’s Military from the beginning of World War II up to the present. The Museum’s collection includes aircraft that really fly and several that remain on static display and are interactive workshops. The museum strives to allow the visitor to experience and interact with displays. One could climb into the cockpit of a real WWII trainer or a real jet fighter, our Avro CF-100. There are interactive flight combat simulators which will surely test the flight skills of any aspiring aviator. The Museum also offers the visitor an educational experience that will take them back through Canadian history via interactive video displays, movies, photographs and memorabilia. The Prince reopened the site in 1996 during his most recent visit to Hamilton.
4. A Hamiltonian, Lincoln Alexander, served as Ontario> ‘> s 24th Lieutenant Governor from 1985 to 1991. The Lieutenant Governor is the Queen> ‘> s representative in Ontario and largely a ceremonial role with some governmental responsibilities. Alexander was born in Toronto but represented the riding of Hamilton West federally as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada from 1968 to 1980. Today, the jovial gentleman frequents downtown sites including Lloyd D. Jackson Square shopping centre and the Hamilton Farmers Market.
5. Hamilton is also home to Her Majesty> ‘> s Canadian Ship (HMCS) Haida, a Tribal Class destroyer built in England, commissioned into the Royal Canadian Navy in 1943, serving in many theatres of operation through the Second World War. After a post-war refit, Haida continued in service through the Korean War and Cold War situations, until she was decommissioned in 1963. The ship was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1984 by the federal government and arrived at Pier 9 in Hamilton Harbour on August 30, 2003, the 60th anniversary of her commissioning. >
Tourism Hamilton is an innovative destination management organization dedicated to significantly increasing new and return tourist visitation to Hamilton.

BALLET JÖRGEN CANADA PERFORMS THE EMPEROR?S NEW CLOTHES
YOUNG PEOPLE?S BALLET VISITS BRANTFORD STAGE
October 15, 2009. Brantford, ON? Ballet Jörgen Canada is pleased to
announce fall performances of its young people?s ballet in repertoire, The
Emperor?s New Clothes. This delightful retelling of the well-loved Hans
Christian Andersen classic tale which continues to charm young people from
the ages of four to ten, will visit The Sanderson Centre in Brantford this
November.
Choreographed by Benjamin Hatcher and with an original score by Canadian
composer Ivan Barbotin, The Emperor?s New Clothes first premièred in
October 2004 has since played to over 62,000 young people across Canada.
With a mandate to take ballet to communities that have little access to
the live performing arts, this delightful work has been performed in
schools, parks and intimate auditoriums in many remote communities and
at-risk neighborhoods across Ontario.
This humourous telling of The Emperor?s New Clothes promotes clear
educational and life lessons, bookmarked by interactive pre- and

collaboration with George Brown College in Toronto to elementary school
programming that brings ballet to children across the country. In

to over 50,000 people from coast to coast in Canada and northern USA,
sharing the experience of ballet with more communities in Canada than any
other dance company. With a ?hub? in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and centres in
Ottawa and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ballet Jörgen Canada is truly Canada?s
