On the agenda

Reunion Island and the city of Albi recently became Unesco world heritage sites
The World Heritage Committee held their 34th session in Brasilia from July 25th to August 3rd. The two sites proposed by France were accepted by the committee. The pitons, cirques and remparts of Reunion Island, as well as the episcopal city of Albi are now part of the prestigious list. France now totals 35 World Heritage sites.

2010 grape picking: take part and visit the vineyards
Pick grapes or watch others as they work…

La France des gourmets

Authentic taste of Guadeloupe
Besides sunny beaches, lush vegetation, good rums and beguine, the islands of Guadeloupe will win you over with their multitude of flavours! A Caribbean feast showcases abundant and tasty vegetables and fruits, inimitable sugarcane, honey, not to forget some authentic cultures recently going through a boom…

Wine domains and oenological classes on the French Riviera
These wines, among the best vintage wines of Provence, are worth discovering, notably the wine of Bellet, a small vineyard with a great reputation, producing aromatic whites and rich red wines.

Corsican local products and specialties
Rich in heritage, Corsica is equally rich in living traditions, in which gastronomy plays a central role.

Our favorites

Martinique, island of flowers and…museums!
Martinique, it is more than 6000 years of history, to be discovered through all its heritage. You will be staggered by all the Martinique treasures.

Explore Tahiti’s Waters
The warm, crystalline waters of Tahiti and its surrounding islands have for years beckoned to those who love the life aquatic. French Polynesia’s many oceanic drop-offs and lagoons offer a spectacular array of coral gardens, rare and vividly colored sea creatures, and water temperatures that hover between 79Ëš and 84ËšF all year. There are more ways to experience these warm tropical waters than you may think…

Back to School with Alain Ducasse
Sharing knowledge is a core value for Alain Ducasse, who is creating a sensation with the opening of a new generation culinary school in Paris. Knowing the right questions to ask the sommelier, discovering grape varieties, exploring an appellation… in short: the school’s aim and philosophy is to offer accessible, forthright and interactive courses that break with the often overly severe codes of sommellerie.

Choose Corsica said Franceguide 2010

Filed under: Events, Paris, Corsica, France, Europe, Quebec, Montreal, Places to Travel — aherioslio @ 4:58 pm

Bonjour

Go to Corsica once and you are sure to get addicted!  The proud and fiery character of its inhabitants, the charm of the villages, the natural beauty of preserved sites and its clear, emerald waters, not to mention the figatelli, the brocciu and the Patrimonio wine… Once you have discovered Corsica, you will love it for the rest of your life.
In collaboration with the Corsican tourist board, we present you today a sample of the best Corsica has to offer, with Napoleon’s festivities, Guitar Nights or the polyphonic singing festival in Calvi on the agenda, to name but a few of the many animations and fairs taking place throughout the year.

Marie Folacci, Promotion Director for the Corsican tourist board, also shares with us her favourite spots and activities. Whether they be the hiking trails criss-crossing the island or the sandy beaches of the Balagne area, all of which bypass cities exhibiting exceptional cultural heritage, you will be amazed by the diversity of the land.

Of course, your visit would not be complete without some gastronomic discoveries! Treat your taste buds to an extraordinary experience with the cheeses, cold cuts and local wines. In an excerpt from our new FranceGuide 2010 webzine, Alexandre Lobrano invites you on a tour of the island’s foodie delights.

So to each his own Corsica! Whether you are dreaming of a relaxed time, good food, natural beauties or thrills, our partners are available to help organize your own memorable traveling experience.

À prestu !

France Guide ., Spring 2010 issue

Filed under: Paris, Events, France, Europe, Places to Travel — aherioslio @ 6:50 pm

Bonjour,

To kick off the season - much-awaited not only for the weather, but also for the launch of our annual FranceGuide magazine!  - we’ve come up with something new and refreshing.  Since Canadians are using the web more and more to book trips and share ideas via social networking, we wanted to be part of the game. FranceGuide, available online for years now, has grown into a full-blown webzine, combining the best of both worlds:  the usual enticing photos and witty, informative articles of the print copy, with the possibility to reach an endless number of readers. Even great, world-renowned Chef Alain Ducasse, who prefaces this year’s magazine, couldn’t resist becoming a part of our world on the web!  I strongly suggest you take a few minutes to watch our video interview with him.

For those of you who have received your copy of FranceGuide at home, or picked it up at one of our distribution points, you’ve certainly noticed a reduced number of pages…  Indeed, we’ve revised the format to respond to the ever-growing demand, and now print and distribute 60% more copies than last year.  But of course, how could we do justice to covering a full-year in France in only 60 pages?  That’s why the webzine includes 40 exclusive online articles, tips and videos.

Check out the articles below to learn more about all of the webzine’s functions and advantages, before becoming engrossed in its rich content.
Don’t forget to let us know what you think!

 Magical Impressionism in Normandy
Magical Impressionism in Normandy
by Monique Burns
Picnics in hay-scented fields, lazy boat rides on the Seine, world-class art exhibits, dramatic sound-and-light shows, dance parties in riverside guingettes, and footloose rambles through the countryside. Monet would have loved this, as would have Renoir, Degas and all the other 19th-century artists who made Normandy the birthplace of Impressionism.
Bordeaux fête le vin      Bordeaux fête le vin
by Gary Lawrence
With four days of festivities, half a million tastings and nearly as many visitors, Bordeaux’ celebration of wine is the real deal. Could any other city in the world be more appropriate than Bordeaux to pay homage to the nectar of the gods?
All That Jazz      All That Jazz
by Monique Burns
On the Cote d’Azur, moonlight glistens on the Mediterranean and filters through a grove of centenary pines. In the distance, the lights of Cannes glitter around the crescent bay of Golfe Juan. Onstage, a stone’s throw from the sea, a saxophonist throws back his head and launches into a slow, sensuous riff.

Windows of Parisian department stores , Christmas in Guadeloupe and our contest winners in 2009

Filed under: Paris, St.Martin/St.Maarten, Guadeloupe, France, Caribbean, Europe, Places to Travel — aherioslio @ 5:37 pm

Bonjour,

The holidays are a special time to travel with family, your loved-one or to meet up with friends. This  e-news is an invitation to discover all the magic of Christmas in France: in Paris, the store windows and the Champs Elysees, the most beautiful avenue in the world, are all aglow. Let yourself get seduced by the regional traditions: in Rhône-Alpes by the famous Grenoble’s Christmas market, or in Lorraine with the many spiced breads. Enjoy the enchanting vision of the lights in Saint-Martin or Noumea, capital of New Caledonia. For an exceptional holiday why not spend Christmas closer to home, under the Guadeloupe sun?

Make sure you don’t miss our sections dedicated to contests and good deals  and ideas, as well as offers from our partners.

The entire ATOUT France team wishes you a very happy holiday season, and may 2010 be filled with joy and travels.
