Caribbean Passport Film Crew Visit
The Montserrat Tourist Board hosted a film production team of JCD & Associates Ltd., Trinidad, from the popular lifestyle and travel programme, Caribbean Passport, for the annual week-long Calabash Festival 2011 activities. CD Launched to aid Montserrat National Trust
Local calypsonian Pat “Belonger” Ryan has recently launched a CD comprising six songs to raise funds for the Montserrat National Trust. The songs were composed over the years, all with the environment as their common theme. Belonger sees the work of the Trust as an important one as they strive to conserve the environment and preserve historic sites and attractions for future generations to enjoy. With the onset of volcanic activity and the resultant migration of members and supporters, the Trust lost significant resources, which is needed to aid them in their work. The sale of the CDs will help to bring in much needed revenue. Songs like Lets Come Clean with our Environment , Save the Trees, Living with our Volcano are some of the songs that were penned by Belonger and produced by Sun Brother Lea. The CDs which are available for sale at the Montserrat National Trust cost EC$35.00 (US$13.00) and make an interesting gift or souvenir item. Established in 1970 under The Montserrat National Trust Ordinance, the Montserrat National Trust is the leading Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Montserrat dedicated to the conservation and protection of the environment and to the preservation of Montserrat’s natural and historic sites. Over the past years it has contributed significantly to the education and to the enhancement of the island’s tourist attractions.
